Most homeowners believe that their renovations will help increase the value of their home. This isn’t always the case. Here are some upgrades that usually don’t pay off:

  1. Adding a new roof- It might come as a surprise, but most people don’t care much except for when the roof leaks. Replacing a roof is costly, so don’t replace it unless it has issues.
  2. Converting a bedroom into a home office- Your home will be listed as having one less bedroom. This can be a big mistake.
  3. Wall-to-wall carpeting- A lot of carpeting simply doesn’t appeal to many buyers, especially if they have stains on them.
