We often connect the color green to life, youth and vitality! The wonderful thing about the color green is that it can be used any time of the year, either indoors or outdoors, making it a perfect wedding color choice. But be careful when coordinating each shade of green to not go overboard! Opt for green accents rather than large splashes of green. Light shades of green are best for spring – bold shades for summer. Darker green hues are best for fall/winter weddings.
Here are some inspiration ideas for incorporating this spirited color into your wedding:
- Introduce the color green to your guest with wedding invitations and other stationary.
- When choosing bridesmaids dresses, be sure choose a shade(s) that coordinates well with all skin tones and with your other wedding details, especially your flowers.
- Fruit is a great detail to incorporate into your decor, it’s inexpensive and adds the right touch of color. Green apples and pears can make the perfect decorating accent for this color scheme! Add sliced kiwi and limes in your centerpieces – it will look and smell wonderful! Use fancy pushpins with your apples for your place card holders at the table.
- Fill water pitchers with ice and freshly-sliced limes.
- Serve apple martinis!
- Add green icing details to contrast with the cake’s icing, or use fresh greenery/flowers to detail the cake.
- Have green favor boxes filled with your choice of candies or use green foil to wrap chocolates.
- Make green cream mints or mint sorbet.
- Use both flowers and foliage to make your bouquets beautiful and your boutonnieres unique. Lighter greens can be found in grape leaves, tulip leaves, euphorbia, green parrot tulips, hydrangeas, berries and orchids. Deep greens are found in ivy, camellia leaves, ferns, rose leaves, magnolia leaves, palms, lemon leaf, evergreens and bear grass.
- For a fresh modern look, pair your green with bold shades of yellow, purple, fuchsia or orange. For a more classic look, pair with lavender, ivory, gold, white or black.
