Recently wedding showers have started to shift from just the bride, to both the bride and groom. Co-ed wedding showers are becoming more popular among soon-to-be married couples. Having a co-ed wedding shower allows the groom and his friends to become more involved throughout the entire wedding process and also can make the shower more fun and exciting! A popular trend with co-ed wedding showers is having a theme. Here are some theme ideas that would be great for a co-ed wedding shower:
Around the Clock: With this theme each guest that comes is assigned a time of the day and their gift needs to correspond with that time. For instance a morning time could bring towels, a coffee maker, a toaster, etc. A mid-day time could bring dish towels, a dish set, glasses, etc., and a later time could bring a blanket, cookware or a DVD player. You can also correlate the food you have at your shower with the different times too. Don’t be afraid to have breakfast food, finger foods and more dinner type foods! It will just make the shower more fun! If you wanted to take it a step further you could even have your guests dress like the time they were assigned too! People would show up wearing pajamas, sweats, fancy going-out clothes and just plain old clothes too.
Room of the House: If you want to do this theme you would assign each guest a room of the house and they would need to bring a gift that corresponds with this room. Just a hint, you may want to be careful who you assign the “bedroom” gifts to. You may not want to give your groom’s obscene guy friends this room as you never know what you might get (and you don’t want to be embarrassed).
A Toast to the Couple: This theme helps the couple stock the bar for their wedding! If you chose this theme, each guest would bring a bottle of their favorite alcoholic beverage or mix. It doesn’t even have to stop there, guests can bring wine glasses, martini glasses, coasters, bar stools, mixers… the list is endless!
Month of the Year: One last theme that might be fun for a wedding shower is month of the year. With this each guest brings a gift correlating to a certain time of year. Guest can bring beach towels, grilling kits, picnic baskets, etc for summer. They can bring blankets, matching slippers, space heaters, etc for winter. The list goes on and on. Steal a few ideas from “Around the Clock” and make foods that correlate with the different times of year too! Decorate the room like the four different seasons, which would be fun as well!
