The Big Day has turned into more than just a day; it has turned into a three-day celebration. When asking guests to “Save the Date” more and more brides are really asking to “Save the Weekend.” Many brides are adopting the philosophy that since so many friends and family are traveling across the country to share in their wedding that it should be more than just one day. That is why the wedding celebration has turned into a three-day event including the rehearsal dinner, the ceremony and the next day brunch.
The rehearsal dinner – For some the rehearsal dinner is still very traditional and kept an intimate affair with mostly close friends and families. For others it has become almost as large as the actual wedding ceremony itself equipped with sit down meals, flower arrangements and sometimes even bands or djs. Either way, the rehearsal dinner is a great way for everyone to come together and enjoy the beginning of the celebration.
Sporting Events – Some brides and grooms are even scheduling sporting events to keep their traveling guests entertained before the big day. A popular example is holding golf tournaments, tennis matches and even a day out on the lake. This is a nice way to unwind with loved ones after your months of planning.
The Next Day Brunch – The morning following the wedding, some brides have opted to treat their guests to a breakfast/brunch to close out the festivities. This tends to be a more relaxed gathering where everyone can recap the fun moments of the past few days and wish the bride and groom off! It is also an opportunity that some couples take to open gifts and thank those around them for sharing in their special day!
