Who do you tip? When do you tip? How much? Working with so many different people for your wedding makes it hard to keep track of who gets a few extra bucks and who doesn’t.
Many wedding vendors such as the caterer and limo service add a mandatory gratuity to the final tab. As a result you don’t have to tip anyone in this situation. However, if you believe an individual staffer has gone “above and beyond,” it may be nice if you slip them a $20 or more.
A server who tracks down a special dietary meal for a relative, a limousine driver who makes a special return trip to your house to retrieve an errant bridesmaid or a catering manager who works miracles with a cake that’s collapsed—are all examples of extraordinary service that you may want to reward with an extra tip.
Sometimes you might have to give the tip directly to the worker, if given to the company the workers may never even see the tip if it’s paid with the final bill.
There’s no law saying that you have to give cash, consider handing out gift certificates or a bottle of wine as a thank you to wedding vendors.
