You have chosen your venue and booked your Dj/band for the reception. Your music choices are over now, right? Wrong! The music during your wedding ceremony is an important factor that adds to the overall atmosphere of your event. Whether you decide to walk down the aisle to the traditional wedding march or perhaps to a song that holds a significant meaning to yourself and your groom, there are several factors that should be considered when choosing your music for your wedding ceremony:
Does the ceremony take place inside or outdoors?
Your setting plays a part in the type of music that you can have during your ceremony. You might not have access to certain instruments, such as the organ outdoors. However, a string quartet or other more mobile musicians are great alternatives to outdoor weddings.
Is your wedding tone religious or secular?
If your wedding is held inside a church, it is important to check with the church on its guidelines on music. Many religious houses do not allow “secular” music to be played during the ceremony; however often it is permitted to play while guests are being seated. Make sure to know the rules for your specific church before finalizing your music choices.
Will anyone be singing?
Having a professional vocalist perform at the ceremony will leave a lasting impression on your guests. Professionals often will have recommendations for songs during the ceremony to help narrow down your selection. Or, having a close friend or relative sing is a great way to incorporate a personal touch to the day!
