The buzz about the Royal Wedding may be over, but you can still follow Will and Kate’s lead to achieve a Royal Wedding of your own.

1. A Dress with Sleeves – Combing tradition and modernity, the style of Kate’s sheer, lace sleeves made her the picture of elegance. Though the most popular wedding dress neckline is strapless, consider this royal style or find a dress with customized sleeves of your own. There are many different fashions to choose from!
2. Modern Vows – Kate choose not to use the word “obey” in her wedding vows, sticking to the promise to love, comfort, honor, and keep her husband. These days, many brides are straying from the customary wording of wedding ceremonies. Take time to look over your own vows with your fiancé and discuss making changes. The result will be traditional vows, but with a personalized touch.
3. “Something Blue” – Blue has been connected to weddings for centuries. The old tradition stems from an old English rhyme:
   Something old, something new
   Something borrowed, something blue
   And a silver sixpence in her shoe.
   Each item was given to the bride by family members and attendants as tokens of love and luck on her wedding day. Kate’s “something blue” was her gorgeous, sapphire ring. You can find a similar, blue ring or mix it up by wearing some blue earrings or a blue garter, and by using a blue ribbon or flowers in the bouquet.
4. A Grand Exit – William and Kate left the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage. Do something similar to make sure that all eyes are on you. If you think using an actual carriage would be too expensive or traditional, opt for another show stopping exit. You can wave good-bye in a decorated vehicle or have your guests line up with lit sparklers, rose petals, or balloons. Either way, having a planned exit can make for a wonderful memory and a fantastic photo op.
5. All-day Festivities – To make the celebrations last, have more than one party after your wedding. Will and Kate had a reception, an after-party in the evening, and a post party breakfast. By having your wedding early in the day like the Royal Couple, you can make room for even more festivities!
