Usually there is one outstanding part of a wedding day that I like to go on and on about when I blog the wedding images. It’s kinda my thing. Well, Alison and Josh’s wedding just broke my normal mode of operation. Where to even begin? I could tell you about how sweet and caring Alison is, or how funny Josh and his groomsmen are (they all broke out into Bible Camp songs on the party bus. I am not kidding!). Or I could tell you stories of how kind and considerate both Alison and Josh’s families were. Then there was the beautiful and elegant decor of the day, and the absolutely amazing paper goods that I might have obsessed over a tiny bit.
The thing is, this wedding was just all around amazing. There is no other way to describe it. Happy couple, fun bridal party, family support, those gorgeous paper goods, rockin’ shoes on the bridesmaids and Alison herself, heartfelt speeches from Alison’s sister and Josh’s best friend. From start to finish I was enchanted, and I’m sure all the guests were as well.
So without further ado, a small sneak peek at some of my favorite images from the night.
I think what made this wedding the amazing day that it was goes beyond those gorgeous shoes or the paper goods or the pretty love birds on the cake, though. What made the day so incredible was the people involved in it. Alison and Josh both understood and appreciated the fact that their day was about more than putting on a show. They knew it was about sharing and celebrating their unique love with friends and family. Their day was personalized in such a special way. It wasn’t about spending a fortune or stressing over details, it was about letting family and friends in on the planning and creation of those details. From the invites and programs to the tags for the wish tree and the adorable lemon table settings, Alison’s aunt designed it all. Her work is quite simply stunning in its elegance. (ps, the wish tree is just one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen. Every program had two tags inserted in the back and guests were encouraged to share their wishes for Josh and Alison’s future together as husband and wife.)
The personalization didn’t stop with the “stuff” of the wedding day, though. They incorporated friends and family into the day itself. Personally my favorite was Alison’s friend singing during the ceremony. Her voice was powerful and sweet at the same time- like a perfect glass of wine. And the emotion! Her voice and performance was pure, raw, and mesmerizing.
Alison and Josh recognized that their family and friends had talents and gifts to share, and they weren’t afraid to ask for the important people in their life to be a major part of the day. That combination led to an amazing day that everyone will remember for years to come.
