Believe it or not, you probably won’t get to taste any of the food at your reception.  You’ll be too busy shaking hands, giving hugs and posing for pictures.  Considering the amount of money you’re spending, ask the caterer to prepare a going-away package with a sample of the evening’s menu (don’t forget the cake!)  You and your fiancée will probably be starving by the time you leave the reception!

However, there are limits to this some cities and counties have laws that prohibit caterers from allowing you to take home leftovers.  Some states don’t allow it because the caterer could be held liable for any illness that results from the consumption of that food.  Check with your caterer to determine the regulations for your area.
