Just like in fashion, the growing trend of color blocking is becoming very popular in floral arrangements and you will definitely be seeing more of it at weddings.

Color blocking is when a color is chosen and different kinds of flowers are picked to match that specific color palette, creating a dramatic grouping effect.

The intense concentration of each strategically-placed color will draw attention to the flowers while the assorted textures will create depth. Stick to two or three colors, anymore than that and you might end up losing the bold effect.

If you like the bold look, use contrasting colors to bring attention to the individual flowers. Contrasting, yet complimentary colors are opposite in the color wheel. But even if they’re opposite, when mixed together these colors pop! For a more delicate look, use similar shades of each color.

If you like this look, be sure to ask your local wedding florist to show you suggestions on how to incorporate color blocking into your wedding bouquets and reception centerpieces.
