You may be done with wedding plans, but the work isn’t over yet; there are still a few things you need to take care of before you officially close the book on your wedding and start your new life with your spouse. When you arrive home from the honeymoon, take care of these to-dos within two weeks:
- Send wedding announcements to the newspaper.
- Review photo proofs and select prints.
- Write thank you notes.
- Have wedding gown cleaned and preserved.
- Return borrowed items.
- Pay final wedding & reception invoices.
- Update identification records—driver’s license, Social Security card, passport, etc.
- Update financial records—bank account names, retirement & investment beneficiary information, employer and accountant tax records, credit card information, etc.
- Send out Change of Address cards.
- Change wills and insurance policies.
- Verify life insurance amounts & change beneficiary.
- Change health/dental insurance plan information.
- Change car insurance/registration information.
- Add your name to utility bills.
- Re-register to vote.
- Change property title/mortgage name.
- Change information for memberships, clubs, etc.
- Update your Facebook profile—you’ve got to make this official, right?
